Dockside

The port is Lazenna’s beating heart. Due to its mountainous surroundings, the seaside bay to Lazenna’s north is where nearly all of the city’s travel and commerce occur. Traders ship their goods to and from the port, dignitaries from other nations enter the city through the harbor, and humble fishermen use the natural abundance in the port’s surrounding waters to feed the city. The port also offers a microcosm of the city at large. It features ships powered by mage-woven sails and houses many of the city’s finest mageweavers. It sports a robust government building through which the city’s bureaucracy and elite can wield their influence in the district. And, of course, the district is home to a wide variety of the town’s citizens. Arguably the most diverse district in Lazenna, Dockside hosts many of the city’s holidays, festivals, and most famous businesses. However, Dockside also acts as one of the city’s main political battlegrounds, as many of the city’s elite vie for control over its docks, while the district’s common folk often speak out for their rights and livelihoods. With so much activity, it is no wonder Lazenna’s port is often called its beating heart.

Riverfront

Riverfront is a poor district to the south of the city, and lies on the banks of the river that passes through the middle of the city and feeds into the bay. Riverfront is mostly populated by low-income citizens, immigrants, and refugees. Despite its relative poverty, Riverfront is by no means a dead or decrepit district. The people here watch over their own and contribute to the district’s culture and upkeep in a variety of ways. Truly a melting pot, the economic and cultural life here is as varied as its people. One can find expertly crafted mageweave at bargain prices or restaurants that serve the city’s finest cuisine out of residential kitchens. The houses and shacks here are colorful, and the streets rival Bohoma in their liveliness. However, due to the lax government oversight of this district, the area is plagued by organized crime — gang’s whose bosses generally find residence in the wealthy neighborhoods at or around Bridgepass.

Ironwood

Towards the Eastern edge of the city lies the Ironwood District; a lively and cacophonous area of Lazenna, defined by its metalworks, warehouses, and military/police instillations. It is an area seldom lived in, and one controlled by company owners, city forces, and guilds. A place rarely visited by the general population, the furnace district is nonetheless crucial to the economic survival of the city. It is also an area where political or trade deals are made under the shadow of the district’s constant noise and grime.

The Slopes

Contrary to its singular name, the slopes are a collection of about a dozen neighborhoods that span the middle rungs of the city. This is where the majority of the city’s population resides, and is as diverse as its inhabitants. The city’s robust middle class can mostly be found on the Slopes. These neighborhoods sport a colorful array of plaster-covered houses at various stages of wear and tear. Within the Slopes are different small enclaves, segregated by ethnic boundaries or by trade. However, most of the inhabitants of the Slopes live harmoniously together despite their origins or occupation.

Bohora

If the Dockside is Lazenna’s heart, and Bridgepass its brain, Bohora is the city’s soul. Located on the Western side of Bridgepass, Bohora is the city’s cultural and artistic center. It is here where Lazenna’s famous Salamander Playhouse puts on its spectacles, attracting people from all over the world to catch a glimpse of the theatre’s world-class actors, musicians, and acrobats. Bohora is also home to maverick mageweavers that use their artistic and magical talents to create works of art and beauty. Finally Bohora is where most of the city’s holiday festivities, circuses, and events take place.

Temple District

The temple district is home to the Skypiercer House. Carved out of an old mountain, the temple now stands as the headquarters to the Cult of Falling Sun in Lazenna. The district is extraordinarily clean and well-kept, thanks to a cadre of tirelessly working monks who make sure their church and district are models of virtue and purity for the city. Ironically, the Temple district is also home to the financiers, bankers, and lenders of the city, who enjoy the pristine environment and relative quiet of this city area. Also placed in this district is Lazenna’s largest park, which welcomes all citizens to its grounds, regardless of income or creed.

Bridgepass

Bridgepass is the crowning jewel of Lazenna. It is the city’s wealthiest district and is home to its wealthiest and most powerful. It also hosts the famous Lazenna University, which teaches the city’s (and continents) brightest minds in mathematics, science, governance, and of course, magecraft. Bridgepass is also home to the mageweaver’s fair, where hundreds of talented craftsmen get the opportunity to showcase their work in front of wealthy benefactors and university faculty. Finally, Bridgepass is home to the Prince’s palace and the advisory council, placing the political power of the city in the middle of the district.
